  1. Sims 3 on Nintendo DS review

    October 31, 2010 by rachybop

Yes, I bought the DS version too!

Thing about the new sims 3 games is, they are all different on each console…apart from xbox and ps3 i think, which is fine because i don’t have a ps3.

    So, sims 3 ds…

I wasn’t expecting to say this but this is actually my favourite of the lot so far! it’s so cute and works really well.

The interface is really easy to use, and it uses both screens so your game play isnt interupted when you want to check on things your sim needs etc.

There is no loading time whatsoever!

The sounds on the game are amazing, really lifelike and they make me giggle outloud sometimes…which isnt good when ur on a train full of people.

Like the xbox version, you get karma power in this game…which is basically just like lifetime happiness points but a bit more magical and much more consiquences…make sure you have a go with karma power…its pretty cool. ive used the beauty one for good karma and the earthquake one for bad karma…that wasnt a good idea coz everything got trashed and they were really mad at me. i guess it really is bad karma. :)

the little animations within the ds game are so cute and dynamic they really add to the game.

its just perfect for the ds like this!

another thing i noticed…when you reach a new level in your skill it stops and says ‘your sim is having a moment’, then you get a nice little video of your sim having a happy moment within whatever skill it is. thought that was a nice touch.

any way, buy it, its fab. much cheaper than the other consoles too. and portable! :)

  2. Sims 3 Xbox 360 review

    Sims 3 Xbox 360 review

Off I toddled this morning to fetch my copy of Sims 3 on Xbox 360.

I was so very excited. But now, I can’t help but feel a little ripped off :(

It cost me £39.99 and it’s nowhere near as good as the PC ones I already have. The only bonus you really have by getting it on the xbox is getting the acheivements. There’s 50 acheivements by the way. Quite varied ones too.

I played for an hour just now and I got three of them. They won’t all be that simple though.

The graphics aren’t as crisp in the xbox and evrything just seems a bit stiffer.

There’s a quicker loading time at the beginning than the PC but then it loads when you travel and switch between sims so it probably totals more loading time.

The karma things pretty cool, havent used any yet but i was constantly earning karma points.

I just feel like theve got so advanced with the sims pc but rather than transfer that to xbox theyve started from where they were at the beginning, probably so the can bring out more and more better versions for us all to buy :(:)

if i wasnt comparing it to the pc then i guess i would think it was fab???

if you havent played on an xbox before its gonna take you a while to get used to the controls too. very different to pc, very kindof manual.

overall i would say: buy it but wait till its in the sale.

  3. Sims 3 PC Late Night Expansion Pack Review

Sims 3 PC Late Night Expansion Pack Review

I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO RECEIVE MY COPY OF SIMS 3 LATE NIGHT A DAY EARLY THANKS TO A POSTAL PREORDER FROM AMAZON :)

I GAVE MYSELF AN HOURS PLAY LAST NIGHT (INCLUDING INSTALL TIME SO PROBABLY ABOUT A HALF HOUR ACTUALLY PLAYING) AND I WAS VERY IMPRESSED.

USUALLY IN THE FIRST HOUR OF PLAYING SIMS YOU DON’T REALLY SEE MUCH NEW STUFF, BUT IN THIS EXPANSION PACK YOU REALLY DO.

FIRST OF ALL THE NEW MAP/ TOWN IS FAB. HEAVILY BASED ON NEW YORK WITH IT’S HIGH RISE BUILDINGS AND BROOKLYN BRIDGE REPLICA. IT LOOKS AMAZING AT NIGHT TIE WHEN ALL THE LIGHTS COME ON. I THINK IT IS THE BEST TOWN SO FAR.

THE FIRST NEW THING I NOTICED ARE THAT YOU CAN ADJUST YOUR SIMS BREAST SIZE, NOT SURE YET WHAT IN GAME EFFECT THIS HAVE BUT ITS STILL PRETTY FUNNY.

THERE ARE ALSO NEW TATTOOS AND HEAPS OF NEW CLOTHES IN THE CREATE A SIM SECTION.

THERE ARE A FEW NEW LIFETIME WISHES TOO. I CHOSE TO BE AN ACTOR. ALSO, WHEN YOU CHOSE YOUR LIFE TIME WISH YOU CAN ACTUALLY GO THROUGH THE LIST AND CHOOSE NOW, YOU DON’T HAVE TO TRY TO GET THE RIGHT TRAITS TO SELECT IT. HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE.

IN ORDER TO BECOME AND ACTOR YOU NEED TO GET CELEBRITY STATUS. SIMS WITH CELEBRITY STATUS GET STARS NEXT TO THEIR NAME. ANOTHER COOL FEATURE.

SIMS NOW HAVE STAR SIGNS AGAIN.

YOUR SIM LIVES IN A HIGH RISE BUILDING AND HAS TO BUZZ PEOPLE IN WHEN THEY COME OVER!

I WAS IMMEDIATELY WELCOMED IN THIS GAME BY MY NEIGHBOURS. THIS DOESN’T ALWAYS HAPPEN IN THE NEW ONES. THIS GAME SEEMS ALOT MORE SOCIAL AND MAKES YOU WANT TO GO OUT MORE (NOT IN REAL LIFE OF COURSE BECAUSE THEN WE WOULDNT BE ABLE TO PLAY SIMS!).

ANOTHER COOL NEW FEATURE IS THAT YOU CAN GROUP FRIENDS TOGETHER SO YOU CAN GO OUT PARTYING TOGETHER, ETC. WHEN YOU DO THIS YOU GET A LITTLE SWIRLY MINI BLUE PLUMBOB OVER THE GROUP MEMBERS HEADS.

THE ANIMATION WITHIN THE GAME SEEMS TO BE BECOMING ALOT MORE SHARPER, AS DO THE GRAPHICS. I JUST THINK THEY NEED TO WORK ON NOT HAVING RABBIT HOLES WITHIN THE GAMES.

OH, AND THERE’S NOT A SUBWAY SYSTEM IN THE TOWN WHICH IS PRETTY COOL, NOT REALLY NECESSARY BUT COOL.

I’VE PUT SOME SCREENSHOTS I TOOK FROM THE GAME AT THE TOP OF THE REVIEW.

OVERALL, I THINK THIS GAME IS REALLY THE BEST OF ALL THE EXPANSIONS PACKS AND I HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO EXPERIENCE IN IT! VAMPIRES, CELEBS, HOT TUBS…

    THANKS FOR READING :)

“I could not be happier. This was my first try at Elance and I gave my thoughts and she was able to give me what I was looking for. I needed to make a couple of adjustments as we went along and I am very happy with the results. I would and will use her service again. ”

  8. Sims 3 Barnacle Bay Review

    October 15, 2010 by rachybop

A New World Awaits – Escape to Barnacle Bay today!

Sims 3 Barnacle Bay is a downloadable pack available on the sims 3 website.

it costs around £14 gb (i had some sim points i had earnt from buying previous games so it only cost me £7 gb).

this is the first time i have bought anything from the sims 3 online store, and it was pretty easy.

as i didnt have enough sim points for the whole transation i had to buy some more. they come in certain amounts so i had to buy more than i needed but i got a free gift :)

i paid by paypal and then downloaded the game. just like that.

once it had installed it showed me installed content on the game start up menu the new things in the game. there arent many but the main part of it is the new map – barnacle bay – which is beautiful. perhaps not a piratey as they make out though.

An island nestled in the Simuyan Sea, Barnacle Bay is a vibrant vacation getaway with stunning beaches, campgrounds, parks, and a curiously modern downtown. First settled by pirates, fisherman, and artists – the world’s inhabitants now enjoy relaxing at Smuggler’s Beach and letting loose at The Wanderer’s Watering Hole. Will Your trip be a vacation or a staycation?

i decided to play the game from barnacle bay rather than take a vacation to it, although i would like to try the adventures it holds and i think you can only do that on vacation which is a bit of a pain.

here’s my sim in her pirate outfit, think she likes it :)

    * Meet new Sims, discover the world’s secrets, and unwind at Barnacle Beach
    * Enjoy 18 all-new exclusive objects and clothing only available in Barnacle Bay
    * In Barnacle Bay – Having lunch on a Pirate Ship is only part of the to-do list:
o Grab a bite to eat at Hogan’s Deep Sea Diner before fishing at Ophelia’s Fishing Hole
o Explore the mystery hidden in Pirate’s Hideaway or meet new Sims at The Wanderer’s Watering Hole
o Discover the mysterious Barnacle Bay lore by exploring the abandoned piers of Founder’s Beach and the relics found within the Goldbeard Galleon Gallery

Barnacle Bay includes 18 all-new exclusive items!

here is a video on my sim running up to the pirate ship restaurant thingy…which, unfortunately, is a rabbit hole :(

here’s my sim fishing in barnacle bay… i really enjoyed this here, i havent really enjoyed it much on other maps,

here she is fishing at sunset…

another one but sped up… beautiful starry sky :)

this time fishing at sunrise…watch for the moon going down towards the end, magical…

    and finally, more fishing…

here’s some in game screenshots to give you a feel for the game:

overall i would say this ‘expansion pack’ or whatever it is, is quite cute but possibly overpriced.
