  7. Princess Mononoke movie review

    August 24, 2010 by rachybop

This is a very perculiar animation containing mysterious, imaginative creatures that are way out of the ordinary. This animation is one of the many from the studio Ghibli collection, Japanese animations who also created such films like “Spirited Away”.

This animation is about a young worrier who receives a wound from a cursed monster. The wound will slowly spread through him until he will eventually suffer a painful death. Desperate for the curse to be lifted, he travels into the forbidden forest seeking help from the forest spirit. During his search he finds three giant wolf Gods followed by a human girl, who he instantly falls for. As he travels further he finds a village of people with the newest form of technology, involving iron and the creation of guns. The story cleverly clashes the beginning of human technology, and the ending of nature and Gods on earth. With the humans destroying the forests, the Gods are more than willing to fight back. But the humans are plotting to kill the forest spirit. But who will win? The humans and technology? Or the Gods and nature?

The animation is done with plenty of detail, while still using the traditional Japanese styled animations, like the rest of the studio collections. The animators have obviously thought about how the fabric and fur should move in the wind, or after an action. They also thought about how fast moving objects should move around. As I said they have really gone into detail with the animation.

The bad points of the movie are that it might be too unusual for some people to handle, with all the strange things happening. The movie is a PG but it still has the potential to freak out young children.

My over all opinion of the animation is that it was a very inventive story line but was too weird for my liking. But I did appreciate how much detail there was. I’m glad I watched it but once was enough for me.

  10. Hp Touchsmart 600-1140uk Review

    August 21, 2010 by rachybop

    Good Points:
    • Amazing to use
    • Reliable touchscreen
    • Heaps of features
    • No PC tower
    • HD
    • You can draw directly onto the screen, no need for a graphics tablet
    • TV tuner
    • Remote
    • Can be hooked up with xbox and wii
    • Wall mountable
    • 1TB of space!
    Bad points:
    • Touchscreen can be activated by a fly! I lost a lots of work from a fly landing on my screen, dragging things into folders, closing windows, etc.
    • When I got my first one there was a blue dot on the screen so I had to have it replaced.
    • Graphics card crashes…there is no fix for this so far.
    • Windows 7… nothing is out yet for windows 7…however, my stuff has all worked fine on it or I have found drivers that have made it so.
    • When I use flash or photoshop sometimes it scrolls instead of drawing a line.
Overall I am pleasantly suprised by this PC. I needed ram and hard drive space and I a fab amount of both for my money with the extra bonus of touchscreen.
If you have any questions about things I have not covered in this review please ask :)
